Advocating

Dr. Berkowitz, with 19 years of experience as a special educator, can help support your child with school struggles by promoting school success, helping to navigate the school system, the evaluation process, and classroom or learn-at-home accommodations.

Dr. Berkowitz has experience with writing and implementing Individual Educational Plans for students with disabilities, and with establishing and implementing Section 504 plans for students with medical, ADHD, or dyslexia needs. She can provide advocating services to parents on behalf of students to improve the process and the implementation of services for students with special needs, to improve student outcome. This may include working with the school to assist in the evaluation process, or to provide accommodations and tools for the student to access the academic curriculum.
